Projects:
Sunapee,
NH
This was an interesting
challenge to plant a slope that was mostly ledge. Site investigation
warranted conducting ledge probes to determine soil depth ranging
form 2" - 10" at best. We developed details that would
allow planting pocket opportunities, to break the monotony of a
bark mulched slope along the entire front entry. Part of the solution
used wildflower areas along the slope to attract butterflies, and
provide a low maintenance approach. Another focus was to develop
a larger side yard. The key to the project was to provide proper
drainage for these new elements. A portion of the walkway is an
open drainage system for water that continually seeps from the seams
in the ledge, days after a rain event.
