Public Art
Bicentennial Square Concord NH
next to Margaritas
This was an interesting community input project conceived for and with the City of Concord. Several years of public questionnaires, interviews, public meetings, and concept designs culminated in the restoration of this 30 year old space for the people. The main idea was to put the HISTORY into the Square.
The History Trail is a relief of the Merrimack River, winding through the square, with tiles depicting historic events from 1776 to present day (art designed by Concord school children). Boulder seating planters and functional sculpture are reminiscent of glacial deposits and assist to provide organization of intimate outdoor space and human interaction.
