Process
As you
can see in the background, we transformed what was a static lawn
area adjacent to the Sturbridge Massachusetts
water garden . We worked closely with the property owner over
the course of 4 years to develop three distinct garden spaces
throughout the property.

|
| Initial
Consultation Our
approach is to thoroughly assess your ideas and needs during the
first meeting and offer suggestions toward the solution. We analyze
your site to understand the opportunities and constraints of your
property. The field investigation helps drive solutions during the
design process.
|
Concept Design
The next step is to start
with a conceptual layout of space. This is the fun stage that allows
you to dream a little to examine the options available to you. We
synthesize the information into form, and then express and enhance
these ideas into designed outdoor spaces appropriate for you. |
|
Design Development
Indoor/outdoor relationships,
use, and scale are the key components to providing spaces for the
human experience. This is a little more detailed than the concept
stage. A unique feature may require more investigation through cross
sections, perspectives, or specific details. This is where the design
gets tested and materials are determined. The level of detail development
needed for construction is usually dictated by the complexity of
the project.

Installation
Investment in a landscape master plan will maximize your construction
budget. This plan may be implemented all at once, or phased over
a period of time to coincide with your budget. A sensible approach
of working with the topography, vegetation, exposure, and drainage
can provide a “minimal impact”, lower cost project.
When we take on a landscape design, we are not merely “frosting
a cake” or decorating. We are transforming your property into
more usable, enjoyable spaces that relate to each other. |

Garden
I love plants, but not
as much as the owner of this property. Paul is such an enthusiast,
that when he expanded his containerized garden of tropicals, it
required more area to showcase these beauties. Together we created
a design for a patio that met his spatial needs, while relating
to and preserving the existing natural features.

We
worked closely with the existing vegetation. Notice the existing
native laurel in bloom!
It’s all about the quality of life.
